CARR: Mary Elizabeth Carr of Brandon, Manitoba passed away on Monday, April 6th, 2015 at the age of 66 years. Mary is survived by her husband of 31 years, Murray Carr and children Rob, Lisa, and James (Melayni). She has eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Peter (Donna) Lovering, Jack (Melodee) Lovering, and sister Ruth (Lloyd) Griffith. She is pre-deceased by her first husband, Kenneth Schwab, her father-in-law Wilfred Carr, her brother-in-law Keith Carr, and her parents, Rev. G. Lloyd Lovering and Marion Lovering. Mary was born in Toronto, Ontario, the first child of Lloyd and Marion Lovering. She lived in various small towns in Ontario until the age of 13 when the family moved to Elrose, SK in 1961. After graduation, Mary attended teacher's college at the University of Regina. She married Ken Schwab and settled in Edmonton, where Lisa (1971) and James (1974) were born. After Ken's death, Mary moved her young family to Delisle, SK and then to Brandon in 1979. In 1984, she married Murray Carr and gained another son, Rob. Rather than pursuing a teaching career, Mary spent most of her working life in some area of financial services. Mary loved to volunteer, and she was very active in her church and community. She was also passionate about her work with Youth for Christ and the Brandon Fairs. Mary always loved the outdoors, and was a true camping enthusiast. The family Thanksgiving tradition was legendary! She loved animals. There were always pets in the home, whether it be cats or the family dog - each one had a special place in the family. Mary also had a huge infatuation with pigs - her house was literally decorated with all things "pig"! Unfortunately, in the last few years, Mary's life has been dominated by health issues. She battled diabetes and both heart and liver disease. She relied on family, but more importantly, her relationship with her Lord and Saviour to carry her through. She died at home while receiving palliative care, and is now in the presence of Jesus. A celebration of Marys life will be held at Calvary Temple (620 34th Street, Brandon) at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 with Rev. Gary Jennings officiating. Interment will be at the Foxwarren Cemetery on Thursday, April 9th at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire donations may be made to Calvary Temple Building Fund, Wycliffe Bible Translators or the Canadian Bible Society. Braendle-Bruce Funeral Service/Minnedosa Funeral Service of Minnedosa in care of arrangements. (204-867-3868).
