ANDERSON: Weslie J. Anderson of Virden, MB passed away peacefully with family by his side on March 13 , 2015 at the Virden Hospital at the age of 75. Wes was born on July 8, 1939 at his parents farm in the Logwood District near Broadview, Sask. He took his schooling at Logwood School and then the family moved to a farm south of Virden. Wes started work with Flint Rig at a young age and after working in the Virden area for a number of years, ended up in Melville and Regina, Sask. It was during this time he married BettyChapman of Virden on April 6, 1963 and while living in Regina they decided to move back to Virden to start his gravel hauling business with an old truck and crawler he had bought in Regina. This business ,started in 1964, and later known as Anderson Gravel &Excavating Ltd., lasted for 37 years. Wes loved everything about life and was involved with many things in his community. He was an Elks Lodge member for 45 years. He loved hunting, fishing,boating and water skiing,curling,camping with his family, travelling with family and friends, and he had a great passion for old cars and Country and Western music. Wes was predeceased by his parents John and Alice Anderson, his sisters Mavis Lovequist and Yvonne Kerluke and her husband Nick, sister-in-law Agnes Anderson, Betty's parents Harry and Karleen Chapman and nephew Paul Heaman and his wife Laura. Wes is survived by his loving wife Betty of 52 years; his daughters Denise (Scott) Biccum and Carol (Warren) Polk of Virden; Corinne (Darren) Kruse of Grand Prairie, AB.; and his son Kurt (Robin) Anderson of Fort McMurray, AB: his seven grandchildren Taylor and Logan Biccum, Zach and Ellyn Polk and Bethany, Conner and Nicholas Anderson. Wes was so proud of everything his family and grandchildren did and were involved with,and was always there for them when his health permitted. Wes spent the last two years as a resident of the Westman Nursing Home. On March 17 a funeral service was held for Wes at St Paul's United Church with Rev. Janis Campbell officiating. Pallbearers were his three sons-in- law and his three grandsons. Interment was at Virden Cemetery. G.R. Carscadden Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
