FORREST: Courtney Brooke Forrest (nee Bjorn son June 15, 1979 - June 16, 2015. With heavy hearts, but incredibly great memories, the family announces that Brooke passed away at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit the day after her 36th birthday. Her strength and positive attitude will forever be an inspiration to all of us. Brooke lived her short life to the fullest as a bright, bubbly, energetic, caring person. She was always very competitive, playing softball, soccer, curling, marathon running and golf. You name it, she tried it. She was often the smallest competitor, but was always a leader and a hard working player. There was much adventure in Brookes life. She backpacked around Europe, tried skydiving and fortunately survived two total loss car crashes. Having studied at five different schools Shamrock (Winnipeg), River Heights (Brandon), LaSalle, Sanford and U of M (Winnipeg), Brooke made many lasting friendships. She was always a top student, winning many scholastic awards. She started working part-time with Investors Group while in university and continued working full time until she could no longer manage it due to her illness. Brooke met her true love, Marshall Forrest. They soon realized that they had lived a couple blocks apart as children and attended the same school. They married on October 11, 2008. Madeline arrived November 19, 2010 and Sam on December 25, 2012. Their dreams for the future changed dramatically with her cancer diagnosis on December 27, 2012. Her husband and children were her inspiration as she rode the roller coaster highs and lows of cancer treatment. Brooke will be lovingly remembered by husband Marshall, her two darling children Madeline and Sam, parents John and Lorene Bjornson, brother Tyler Bjornson (Pam) and children Bailey and Justin, granddad Arnie Roxton, amma Doreen Bjornson, parents-in-law Gil and Heather Forrest, sister-in-law Angie Kenning (Randy) and children Faith and Ashlyn, papa Walter Riddell. Brooke was predeceased by grammy Pat Roxton, afi Mundie Bjornson and infant son Jack. A celebration of Brookes life will take place on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at The United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota Street, Winnipeg, MB. The family expresses thanks to all the dedicated medical professionals involved in Brookes journey. Their loving care, combined with Brookes incredible drive to stay alive, extended her time with us. We are ever so grateful for that gift of time. The love, support and prayers Brooke and her family received provided us with strength and courage and lightened our darkest days. Please accept our heartfelt gratitude. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Palliative Care Endowment Fund Foundation, C/O St. Boniface Hospital, C 1026-409 Tache Avenue Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6 in memory of Brooke Forrest.
