CROSSMAN: Francis (Frank) George Crossman, born June 8, 1929, passed away July 11, 2015, with family by his side at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, Brandon, MB. Frank was the eldest son of George and Mamie (Reekie) Crossman. Frank attended Butterfield Acres School through grade 8, then attended high school in Pierson completing grade 10. Frank also took a welding course, and later on welded for surrounding neighbors. Frank took great pride in learning the farming operations from his father, and eventually, along with brother Glen, took over the family farm. Frank and Glen farmed together for more than 44 years retiring in 1995. Frank was a community man and served on many committees, Pool Elevator Board, Pierson Community Hall Building, Curling Rink and Co-op Implement. On January 31, 1981 Frank married Marion Vendsel and instantly became step father to her 10 children and grandfather to 12 grandchildren. Frank and Marion enjoyed many family gatherings, as the family continued to grow, whether it be Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, a wedding, birth of a new grandchild, a baptism, or just a weekend get together at the farm or one of the kids places. Frank was very involved in Marion’s children’s lives, and we will all miss him dearly. Frank loved to travel, as geography was his favorite subject in school, and over the years he and Marion travelled to England, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Dominican Republic, Australia, Palm Springs, Southern California, Germany, Hartsburg, Missouri, Calgary, Alberta and enjoyed many cruises. In 2001 they purchased a home in Salton Sea Beach, California, spending winter months there, returning in the spring to the farm at Pierson. Frank’s life was full with family, travelling, sports he enjoyed, fishing, playing cards with neighbors, and enjoying a good pool game at Glen’s. Frank’s life was celebrated July 14, 2015 at the Pierson Community Hall, Pierson, MB, with Rev. Heather Sandilands officiating, music provided by family friend, Sandra Clark, and Pierson United Church Choir. Eulogy prepared by step daughters, read by Rev. Heather Sandilands. Readings were read by grandsons, Michael Zabrodski and Jorden Dixon. Predeceased by his parents, George and Mamie, brother Glen, sister Evelyn Currie, brothers-in-law Hardy Currie and Harry Gibson, son-in-law Duane Munder, grandson-in-law Kelly Thomas, daughter-in-law Sylvia Evanson and grandson Chad Vendsel.
