BAKER: Larry James Baker, beloved father of Nancy (Kevin) Kowalchuk and Bill Baker, passed away suddenly at his residence on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the age of 67 years. Larry was born on May 10, 1948 in Brandon, Manitoba and he attended Earl Haig School. After getting his GED, he got a certification in power engineering at Assiniboine Community College. He met his wife, Maureen, in Rivers, Manitoba and they married on June 21, 1973. Larry and Maureen spent their early marriage in Winnipeg and had their first child, Nancy, in 1974. They had their second child, William, in 1978 and moved to Brandon, Manitoba a year later. In Brandon, Larry and Maureen raised their family and he worked at various jobs. The most memorable jobs were Romana’s Pizza, 4-Way Taxi and Safeway. He retired in Brandon at the age of sixty-five to spend more time with his grandchildren. Larry is survived by his beloved son William, “babygirl” Nancy (Kevin), sweet peas Sarah, Brendan, Samantha, Elizabeth and Vanessa. He is also survived by his brothers Wayne (Judy) and Robert (Margaret) Baker. Predeceased by his cherished wife, Maureen, mother Opal Diment and father, George Flint. A Celebration of Larry’s Life was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Funeral Celebrant, Kim Lewarne officiated.
