CLARK: Following a courageous battle with cancer, the family of Robert Edward (Ed) Clark announce the passing of a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, cousin, brother, uncle and friend. Ed passed away peacefully with family by his side at the BRHC on August 16, 2015 at the age of 83. Ed was born on August 23, 1931 in Winnipeg, MB to Fred and Susan Clark; he was the youngest of 9 in the family. Due to a fatal railroad accident, Ed’s father died when Ed was six months old. Being born with a club foot, Ed endured many painful working years, eventually having the foot removed and fitted with a prosthetic. His schooling was in Ingelow, MB and Central School in Brandon. In his early working years, Ed lived with his maternal grandparents, working at a dairy farm helping during harvest time and eventually working for Angus Lawrie in Brookdale, MB. Here he met his wife Lois. They were married on July 7, 1956 in Holmfield, MB and resided in Brandon. Working with the Hydro Electric Board and Petro Canada prompted a move to Dauphin. The farming bug then led Ed and Lois to Gladstone and Plumas, MB. Ed took part in many community activities, including with the Plumas Curling Rink, Plumas Lion’s Club, Board of Stewarts-Plumas United Church, and the Plumas Legion. He also spent 22 years as a Councillor for the R.M. of Westbourne and 10 years as a school bus driver for the Pine Creek School Division. Ed had a part in the seniors housing, Highway 260, Watershed and many major projects in the Plumas area. He was also instrumental in working to obtain a new Community Hall, Plumas United Church and a fire and grader shed. Having a good water and sewer system in town was also important. After developing an allergy to grain dust, the farm was sold and the family moved into Plumas where Ed managed a Petro Canada garage for 10 years. Left to mourn his death is wife Lois, daughter Faye (Leo) Grenier, son Tom (Tannis) Clark, many grand and great-grandchildren, brothers Cecil and Art Clark, sisters Gladys and Bette, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Ed was a caring, compassionate Dad and we will miss his smile and constant caring ways.
