KISSOCK: With the loving support of his wife and daughter, Robert Lyle Kissock passed away peacefully on September 1, 2015, after a brief illness. The eldest child of John and Wilhemina Kissock, Bob was born in Carberry, Manitoba, on October 28, 1927. After receiving his schooling in Carberry, Bob went to work for the Manitoba Power Commission in 1944. Three years later, he began a new career, taking on the role of driver, and later heavy equipment operator, in the Base Transportation department at Camp Shilo. Bob remained in this department until his retirement in 1988. While others would focus on the many Driver of the Year awards Bob received, he preferred to remember his adventures on the road. His favourite stories included the time he backed the road grader over someone’s Toyota, as well as the time a woman threw a shovel at his snow plow after he filled in the driveway she had just finished clearing. When not on the job, Bob could often be found at the curling rink, his many trophies a testament to his skill at the game. Bob was the consummate people person. His outgoing, friendly nature allowed him to sit on a bench, wherever he was, and find a new friend to talk to. He loved having get-togethers at the house and always went out of his way to ensure that everyone was having a good time and that all glasses were kept full. Predeceased by his parents, four brothers (Alexander, Glen, William, Alan), and one sister (Evelyn), Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte, and two children, Heather and Peter. Bob was a member of the Brandon branch of the Army, Navy, and Air Force Club, as well as the Carberry branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. A private ceremony will take place.
