MacARTHUR:Geraldine Marie "Geri" MacArthur passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday, September 25, 2015. Geri was born the third of four daughters to Susan and Arthur Lewis at Hayfield, Manitoba on September 7, 1929. The family moved from the farm into Brandon as they didn't expect any of the girls to continue with farming. Geri received her grade twelve at Brandon Collegiate Institute before working as an operator at Manitoba Telephone System and as a bookkeeper at Imperial Oil for her brother-in-law, Mel Hatch. Geri had a lifelong interest in curling, belonging to the Brandon Curling Club and later in life found an interest in golf. She was a member of the UCT and enjoyed trips to Mexico and snow-birding to Mesa with George. Geri was predeceased by her parents Susan and Arthur Lewis; husband George and sisters Doreen and Isobel. She will be missed by her children and stepchildren: Richard (Leo) Patterson, Shawn Fuhr, Jim (Bev) MacArthur, Marion (Wayne) McLeod; grandchildren Jennifer (Matthew) Truch, Andrea (AJ) Kingma, Scott (Angie) Patterson, Kelly Fuhr, Robin (Rick) Denbow, and Tom (Tara-Lynn) McLeod and seven great-grandchildren. Geri will also be fondly remembered by her sister Margaret; many nieces, nephews and close friends. A private graveside service took place on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Richard Patterson, son, was urn bearer. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Geri may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th Street East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 7M6. The family would like to thank all nurses and nurse's aides at the Assiniboine Centre Palliative Care, as well as nursing instructor Faye Simpson, who was so kind and helpful in Nana's last days. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
