ANDERSON: Lloyd Martin Anderson passed away peacefully and suddenly on October 6, 2015 at home in Oakner, MB. Lloyd was born on December 11, 1927 in Hamiota, the eldest child and only son of the late Med and Ella Anderson. His school years began in Oakner in 1933, the same year his family moved to Oakner from the farm in the Scotia District. After graduating from the U of M in 1949, he chose to return to Oakner to work with his father in the garage/machine shop business. That same year he met the love of his life, Marilyn Bell of Harding, MB and they were married in 1954. Together they raised four children: Kelvin (Brenda) of Calgary, AB; Lauren of Brandon/Hamiota; Marshall of Brantford, ON; and Derek (Kim) of Calgary, AB. Lloyd is also survived by his sisters: Marjorie Thomson, Shirley (Jack) Wilson, Leona (Bob) Bryant and Myrna (Sam) Hannon; grandchildren Aaron (Ben) Gratton, Brett, Lindsay, Nathan, Amanda Anderson; great grandchildren Charlotte, Julianna, Kohen Gratton. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents Med (1982) and Ella (1986) and brother-in-law Gordon Thomson (1991). The cornerstones of Lloyds life were his family, faith, community and his sports. When not involved as a church or community volunteer, he enjoyed being an avid lifelong hockey and fastball/baseball player and fan right up to the time of his passing. A service to celebrate Lloyds life was held at the Hamiota United Church, Hamiota on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 11:00am with Rev. Doug Martindale officiating, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments in Chumah Hall. Interment then followed at Scotia Cemetery, Hamiota Municipality. For those so desiring, donations may be made in Lloyds memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to the Hamiota District Sports Complex Memorial Fund. Campbell Funeral Home, Hamiota were in care of arrangements.
