HUNKIN: Raymond Glen Hunkin passed away suddenly at the Foothills hospital in Calgary, AB on September 19th, 2015. Glen was born at the Womens Pavilion in Winnipeg on October 6th, 1975. He spent his first four years in the city, before the family moved to Oak River in 1979. Glen attended Oak River Elementary School and graduated from Rivers Collegiate in 1993. Glen would read anything and everything including the encyclopedia from A-Z. He was well read and retained tidbits that most of us would never think twice about but he was able to recall at the most opportune times. Glen loved to make people laugh; he entertained many aunts, uncles, cousins, his brother, mom and dad with teasing and pranks. He had many adventures and experiences growing up. After graduation, Glen enjoyed working with the residents of group homes in both Rivers and Brandon. After this, various jobs took him throughout the western provinces, with his backpack in hand he was good to go. His philosophy was I dont need more than what I can put in this backpack. The road Glen chose was often rough with many difficulties. Glen had his share of sorrows and times of sadness, but Glen always said that his own choices are what led him down those rough roads. Glen found his soul mate in Aida and was so excited about the new life they were starting together. They had planned a trip to the Philippines this Christmas. Glen was a very gentle soul to all those who crossed his path. Glen took great pride in his work; he had finally found a career that he truly enjoyed. He loved his new family of coworkers and had great respect for all of them. He loved the work that he was doing and was very happy to be part of such a great team. The path was long and winding and was cut off short in the end, but he found a home, great friends and family and someone to love. Glen was predeceased by his grandparents, Glen and Thelma Hunkin, Thomas and Audrey Flannery, Uncle Patrick Flannery and Aunt and Uncle Laura and Paul Heaman. Left to mourn are his parents Jim and Fiona Hunkin, Brother Kevin (Sharon) Hunkin, Nephew James Hunkin (Randi Wall), special friend Aida, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. A private family service was held on September 28th at Campbells Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Doug Martindale. Urn bearer was Uncle Detlef Makein. Internment took place at the Arrow River Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Glens memory to the Hamiota Centennial Library. Campbell Funeral Home was in care of arrangements.
