KING: Gene Clifford King. It is with heavy hearts, we the King family, regretfully inform family and friends of the peaceful passing of Gene. After a short courageous battle against cancer, and with his family at his side, Gene succumbed quickly in the early morning of November 10, 2015 in the Assiniboine Centre at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Gene was born in Bonavista, Nfld on October 23, 1959. He left Newfoundland in 1978 to work 2 years seasonal with CN Rail. In September of 1980 he was hired on with Inco Metals Co. In Thompson and spent the next 33 years working in the refinery. He retired on April 1, 2013 and moved to Oak River, MB where he spent his last 2 1/2 years enjoying retirement. He leaves to mourn his two sons Jeffrey and Mitchell; 3 grandsons Ethan, Hunter and Madden; mother Nellie Blundon; brothers Keith, Greg, Jared (Tammy) and Harold (Mary); sisters Yvonne (Bruce) and Bridie; step brothers Bruce (Gladys), Barry (Linda), Don (Ellen) and Jeff; step sisters Rosanne (Glen) and Debbie, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be sadly missed by numerous coworkers and the many friends he made throughout his lifetime. A Celebration of Genes Life will be held at his home in Oak River in May of 2016.
