KASPICK: It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Benjamin (Benny) Kaspick on Friday, December 11, 2015 at his residence Rideau Park Personal Care Home. Benny was born on January 29, 1926 in RM of Rosedale. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Elsie; parents Frank and Helen; brother Henry; sisters Kay Slobodian, Isla Rogerson, Irene Buchanan; sisters-in-law Evelyn Kaspick and Joyce Kaspick; brother-in-law Mac Slobodian. Benny married Elsie Johnston on May 22, 1954. To this union they were blessed with five children: son Dennis (Frances), daughter Donna (Murray) Smith, son Garnet (Suzanne Richard), daughter Leann (Grant) Vickers, daughter Lisa Kaspick (Garry Asuchak). To treasure his memory are his nine grandchildren: Brandon (Ranae), Rikki, Kristin (Kevin), Tyler (Ashleigh), Katie, Joshua, Jillian, Jorgen and Alexis. Also dear to his heart are his eight great-grandchildren: Carlie, Raven, Alyssa, Presleigh, London, Layla, Viola and Remington. He is survived by his two brothers, Jackie (Marg) and Clarence; brother-in-law Mac Buchanan and numerous nieces and nephews. Benny was raised on the family farm in Springhill, Manitoba. During his married life they lived in Riding Mountain, Hartney, Melita, Neepawa and Portage. He worked as a mechanic, manager and sales person all over southwestern Manitoba. He made lots of acquaintances and friends over the years. He had the gift for the gab, everywhere he went, no matter where he was, he ran into somebody he knew and engaged in lengthy conversations. Family meant the world to him. Their home was always the focal point of many family gatherings. Benny and Elsie spent many hours following their grandchildren in various academic and sporting events. Through the years, Benny and Elsie enjoyed traveling around the world, as well as camping with their kids then grand kids. After retirement, Benny and Elsie travelled all over Manitoba to attend fiddling contests and old time dancing. They met many friends as they followed that trail over the years. After the loss of Elsie in 2006, Benny moved to Riverheights Terrace located in Brandon, Manitoba. It was apparent that his mourning for her took its toll on him. In the summer of 2012, Benny had moved into Rideau Park Personal Care Home due to his failing health. Over the years, Benny had shared numerous stories with many visitors. The Funeral Service took place at Memories Chapel on Thursday, December 17, 2015, with Joe Ball officiating. Interment was held prior to the service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Portage la Prairie.
