READY: With deep sadness we announce the passing of Rubie Ready, at the Bren- Del-Win Lodge for Seniors in Deloraine, on April 15th 2016 in her 93rd year. Born in November, 1923 to her parents in Oak Lake, Russell and Arlie Hogg, she was smitten with polio in the 1920s which resulted in a badly crippled left leg. Following her schooling in Oak Lake and a secretarial training in Winnipeg, she was employed with the International Farming Equipment in Boissevain, MB where she met and married Jack Ready in Dec., 1944. The Readys left the farm at Desford, MB a couple of years later, moving to Oak Lake where Jack learned the printing trade from Rubie's father. They later moved to Virden (Empire Advance) in 1954 and to Brandon (Sun) in 1959. Besides her husband Rubie is survived by daughters, Connie (Bill Grant) Vernon, B.C., Lynne (Gerry Hillier) Vulcan, AB, Jackie Vockeroth (Wayne) deceased, Okotoks, AB, John (Darlene) of Calgary AB and Marla (Jerry) Gillis of Summerland, BC, Also surviving are a sister Eileen Doherty, eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Deceased include her mother and father, Arlie and Russell Hogg and a sister, Lila Higginbotham as well as her in-law parents, Amelia and Harold Ready. There will be no funeral. By choice cremated remains will be at Memories Chapel, Brandon until mid-summer) for good travelling weather to place the urn of ashes in the Oak Lake cemetery at the site of a prepared location. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers those wishing to make a donation in Rubie's memory could be made to Bren-Del-Win Lodge or a charity of choice.
