LARONDE (nee Brown): Alice Ann (August 6, 1936 - August 11, 2016): Peacefully at the Assiniboine Centre following a brief illness, Alice left this world to join her Creator. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband Bill; daughter Sharon Ward and beloved granddaughter Katey Ward; stepchildren Richard (Brenda) Laronde of Dauphin, MB, Pat (Peter) Kartes of Leask, SK and Nancy (Garth) Lindgren of Shellbrook, SK, along with 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish Alices memory are her sisters Phyllis Crawford and Faith Cristall, as well as nieces and nephews too numerous to count. Alice was predeceased by her parents Harry and Alice Brown; and siblings Shirley Campbell, Muriel Reid, Herbert Brown and Hazel Holden. We can only imagine the joyous reunion in Heaven today as she joins them. Alice was born and raised in southwestern Manitoba and it remained her home for the majority of her 80 years. She worked for the City of Brandon for 27 years until her retirement in 2001. Alice always loved playing cards and looked forward to her weekly cribbage nights for many years. In more recent years, Alice and Bill enjoyed their trips to the casino. She remained close to her family her entire life and made cherished friends wherever she went. Anyone who knew Alice could always count on her for a laugh and a hug! The family would like to thank Dr. Visser and the nurses and staff on A2 and palliative care for their kindness and consideration during this time. In keeping with Alice's wishes there will be no public service. The family will hold a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alice may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7, or online at www.cancer.ca/en/donate/?region=mb.
