SCHWEITZER: Faye Marie (nee: Collins) beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister in law, aunt and friend passed away on August 12, 2016 at Assiniboine Centre, Brandon Hospital. Faye was born Nov. 10, 1936 to Jarvis and Mary Collins. She grew up at Darlingford, MB with her four brothers and one sister. She enjoyed playing ball and hockey. Upon completing school Faye went to Winnipeg and received her hairdressers certificate. She then came to Hamiota and was employed at Duncan's Beauty Parlour. She soon met the love of her life, Russell Schweitzer, and they were married on January 14, 1956 on a very stormy, cold, winter day. They farmed at Decker, MB until 1989 at which time they semi retired to Hamiota, MB. Faye was active on the farm doing chores, running for parts, taking fuel to the field, cooking, baking, canning, gardening, sewing and raising their four children. At harvest time Faye always took full course meals to the field which included pies. She loved the farm and the farm life. She was active in the Decker community and especially enjoyed curling in the winter. She was lucky enough to achieve an 8 ender. Russ and Faye raised three sons and one daughter. Faye was a great mother always supporting her kids in whatever activities they were participating in. When the grandchildren came along she again enjoyed following their activities and was always eager to go watch them. Often after Sunday night supper or on holidays there would be cards or a game of some sort with the kids and grandkids. Lots of fun and laughter! Family was very important to Faye. In later years in Hamiota, Faye enjoyed her "Red Hat" group, bowling, curling, floor shuffle and cards. She liked to visit but you didn't dare phone her if there was a curling game on TV. Faye's interest in farming never left her. She was always phoning the boys to see how things were going. The Sunday night before taking ill she drove out to Wayne's and the on to Cam's checking all the crops along the way. She had a great visit that evening.
