LOUGHEED: John Wayne Lougheed (Hammer), August 2, 1958 to November 9, 2015. It is with heavy hearts that the Lougheed family announce the passing of our Husband, Father, Papa, Son, Brother, Uncle, and friend. Wayne Lougheed died suddenly November 9, 2015. Wayne is survived by his wife Patti, his four children Jennifer (Kyle), Michael (Leanne), April (Hilario), Kyle (Celeste); six grandchildren Lincoln, Everett, Emily, Kasen, Jordyn and Madison; his dog and best friend Buck; his parents Richard and Lois Lougheed; his five siblings Diane, Rick, Patti, Lisa and Elaine. Wayne was born August 2, 1958 in Winnipeg, MB, he then resided in Deloraine, MB for a few years, started school there before moving to Brandon, MB (east end). Wayne attended King George, New Era, Riverview and Crocus schools. He started his hockey career at an early age, spending hours at the East End Rink. Over the years he played hockey for various Brandon teams, spent his teen years growing up in the east end and spending many weekends at Lake Metigoshe at the family cabin. In 1979 Wayne married Patti Gilchrist and moved to Miniota, MB where they raised their four children. Wayne continued playing hockey for the Miniota Nighthawks and then Skunky Dozen (total of 50 years of hockey). Wayne enjoyed life, playing hockey, coaching, refereeing, curling, baseball, hunting, fishing, quading, and golfing. He enjoyed many camping trips with his family, always ready for a good time (our camping trips will never be the same). Wayne worked at JLA (convenience store in Brandon) starting at 14, then Benco, then started working for CN August 1979 to August 2015 (36 years) starting as a machine operator on the CN gangs, then on section at Miniota, then after retiring worked for Cando for a short time. Wayne enjoyed life, loved to have a good time, had a great laugh, loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and loved his pets, always having a dog at his side. In the past year there hasnt been a day go by that we haven't thought about you, remembered you, missed you, cried for you and wished you were still here. We are slowly trying to manage the pain and sadness and carry on but you are always in our hearts. ~ Patti, Jennifer, Michael, April, Kyle and families.
