COXE: Raymond David (Ray) Coxe passed away on the evening of Friday, December 2, 2016 with family by his side. Thankfully, his struggle was not any longer. Ray was born September 6, 1928 in Minnedosa, MB. He went to school at Roseneath Consolidated school, nine miles south of Minnedosa. He was the eldest of five. After he finished school, he helped some of the neighbours hay and looked after their cattle. Ray saw an ad in the paper wanting help at North American Lumber in Esterhazy, SK. He answered the ad and was hired. Ray worked there for a few years and was transferred to the Pine Falls yard. Five years later, he was transferred to the North American Lumber yard in Carberry. A couple of years later, he answered an ad for an Assistant Lumber Manager in Minnedosa Consumers Co-op and started work in Minnedosa. Living close to Minnedosa, Ray joined the Minnedosa United Church A.O.T.S. Mens Group where he made many life-long friends. Ray worked in Minnedosa for many years but after an unfortunate accident which broke his leg, he retired. He was living on his own at this time, so he stayed with his brother and wife until he was able to take care of himself. Ray enjoyed the many bus trips he took to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and all over this beautiful country. He moved to Brandon and in 2002, moved into Hobbs Manor, a very positive move. He participated in the many activities such as cards and shuffle board and bus trips. Ray was a very caring and helpful person and will be missed by his sisters Yvonne Shaw and Norine Young, brother Clare (Donna) Coxe, brother-in-law Claude Laferriere and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Aylesworth Reginald Coxe and Dorothy Emma Neabel, and his youngest sister Gail Laferriere. The Funeral Service was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Milo Spooner Craig officiating. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were Garth Shaw, Neil Shaw, Brad Hoffman, Murray Phillips, Lyle Mansfield and Harvey Douglas. Honorary Pallbearers were Bruce Young, Greg Young, Ian Shaw and Peter Borschawa. Donations in memory of Ray may be made to a charity of choice. Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com.
