NANKIVELL: Dennis Keith Nankivell of Hamiota, MB passed away on December 25, 2016 at the Hamiota District Health Centre. Dennis was born on May 18, 1943 in Miniota. He was the youngest of seven children born to William and Eileen Nankivell. He grew up on the farm in Crandall and enjoyed working the land and looking after the livestock. In 1973 they moved to Hamiota and Dennis started working for the town. He worked until 1996 when knee problems prevented him from continuing. He cherished the gold watch he received from the town when he retired. Dennis spent many years caring for his parents and later enjoyed giving others a helping hand. He was quite often seen driving others to do their errands or attending the many fowl suppers in the area. Family was very important to him as he was the one to call everyone and let them know what was happening. He was often referred to as the glue that kept the family together. In 2013 he moved in to Park Residence and enjoyed visiting with everyone there. Dennis was predeceased by his parents William and Eileen Nankivell, brothers Edwin and Stan, brothers-in-law Ivan Lawrence and Frank Warren, sister-in-law Phyllis Nankivell and nephew Sheldon Nankivell. He will be remembered and missed by his sisters Lena Lawrence, Mary Warren, brothers Lawrence Nankivell, Cliff (Joanna) Nankivell, sister- in-law Lorraine Nankivell and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of Dennis's life was held in Hamiota United Church on January 2, 2017 with Linda Clark officiating. A time of fellowship followed at the Hamiota Community Centre. Interment will take place at a later date at Arrow River Cemetery. Donations may be made in Dennis's memory to the Hamiota Lions Club, Box 1, Hamiota, MB R0M 0T0 or to CancerCare Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248, Stn. Main, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9 or to a charity of one's choice.
