BAILEY: Alan Roy Bailey of Carberry, passed away December 11, 2016 in Carberry with his family by his side at the age of 73. Alan is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Margie, daughter Kim (Nick) Ciampanelli of St. Albert, AB, son Terry (Lori) and grandchildren Alana, Kelsey (Trevor), Thomas, Dean and Jack. He was predeceased by his parents T. Roy and Nora Bailey. When Alan and Margie were married they started their new life on the farm where Terry and Lori currently called home. Here they raised their family and Alan spent his days working on the farm. As the years passed, Alan continued with his passion for farming alongside his son Terry and together they continued to build the farm with new technology. Alan also had the opportunity to farm with his grandchildren, bringing in the next generation of the Bailey Farms. Harvest was Alans favorite time of year, early mornings and late nights on the combine, meals on the tailgate of his truck, and the chance to do it all over again the next day. He always said if you werent up and at it by 6:00 a.m. you had missed the best part of the day and the day was half over. If he wasnt riding a tractor or combine he was working as a councillor in his ward, welcoming the community to the annual summer fair while working at the gate, raising money to build the new rec. centre, lending a hand at the golf course, participating in the governance of the United Church or attending an Elks Dinner. His mark has definitely been left on the community that he always called home. In between the farming and community work, he got in an annual fishing trip with the boys which was an event they all looked forward to. Along with his fishing trips, Alan and Margie loved to spend their time together travelling to all corners of the globe and making memories, right up to their most recent driving trip to Newfoundland and Labrador, and attending as many of the grandchildren's activities as they could fit into the season. As a proud Grandpa, Alan could be seen cheering at a hockey game, a football game, a curling game, a soccer game, swimming lessons, graduations and most recently a wedding. Alan has left a void that will be impossible to fill in all the lives he touched throughout his life. In his memory friends can make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of their choice. The funeral service was held December 17, 2016 at Carberry United Church with Peggy Reid officiating. Interment followed in Carberry Plains Cemetery.
