BARNES: Peacefully with her family by her side Joyce passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Brandon Regional Health Centre. Joyce was born March 5, 1930 in Fleming, SK. In March 1959 Joyce met and married Harold Barnes from Stornoway, SK. They purchased a dairy farm on the MB/SK border and worked together there until they sold the farm in 1975. From there, they retired farm life and moved to Elkhorn, MB. Joyce continued working at the Elkhorn Hospital until the mid 90s. Upon retirement she started working at Bick's Esso in Elkhorn at the restaurant. During all this time Mom was very active in the Elkhorn Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the United Church as well as being at the International Peace Gardens for summer camps as a dorm mom. In 2003, Joyce moved to Brandon to be closer to her family. She kept busy and volunteered at the Nearly New Shop for the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary.
