JOZSA: Jozsef (Joe) Jozsa, will be sadly missed. September 21, 1931–April 25, 2017. Born in Gyomro, Hungary, Jozsef was predeceased by his father Jozsef (Anna), sister’s Peri, Anne and Roszalia and by his son Josef Frank. Joe grew up under communism rule, life was very hard and work started at a very young age. In his teens, he apprenticed as a journeyman stone mason in the capital city of Budapest. After the Hungarian uprise in 1956 Joe, concerned for his future, narrowly escaped Hungary with his young wife Gisele. In 1957 he immigrated to Canada, settling in Brandon, Manitoba where shortly after his first child Josef Frank was born and then daughter Elizabeth (Giselle) a few years later. Joe (Joe’s Bricklaying) established his own stone mason business after working himself up through the ranks of city sidewalk jobs and a helper to other local masons. In his mid 40's Joe left Brandon and moved to Boissevain for the last 30 years of his career. He came to be known as Little Joe, and for the quality and price of his work, not the speed at which the job was completed. He wanted to bless others with his fine craftsmanship. He often told stories of how he went out into fields collecting just the perfect field stones for the job. He battled and won against alcoholism but not before it cost him his marriage and severing ties with his children. Later Joe rekindled his connection with his daughter and together enjoyed many years watching his grandchildren (Christopher, Jonathan, Melissa and Mathew) grow from babies in his arms into adulthood. Joe went home to our Lord Jesus Christ peacefully at Boyne Lodge in Carman. He will be remembered for his gentle kindness, generosity, compassion for the stray animals and humility to his family and friends. He will also be remembered by the many people he worked for and the permanent craftsmanship that can be seen all over Manitoba as well as two Manitoba border crossings; the west entrance of Manitoba as well as the field stone wall that holds the sign saying, “International Peace Garden.” In Hungary, Europe he is survived and will be deeply missed by his brother Imre and sister Margarete as well as nephews: Jacint (Briggita), Csaba, Laszlo, Mihaly, Kriszta, and many other nieces/nephews. A very special thank you to all of the staff who cared for and loved my father so much at Carman Boyne Lodge, as well as the other care homes in Winnipeg: Seine River Residence Retirement Home, Poisedon Personal Care Home, as well as the amazing home care lady Lori Brandt.2 Corinthians: 6-10A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 at Elm Creek MB Church, 146 Poplar Ave., Elm Creek, MB with a light lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to International Peace Gardens of Manitoba or Ducks Unlimited.Doyle’s Funeral Home, Carman in care of arrangementswww.doylesfuneralhome.ca
