BURKE: Edna Mae Burke August 24, 1927 – April 21, 2017. With great sadness and love, we would like to share that Edna Mae Burke passed away on April 21, 2017. She was surrounded by her family in her final days and hours. Left to mourn her passing are her children Sandra Burke (Gary Moran), Larry (Linda) Burke, Brenda (Jim) Provost, grandchildren Julie Herndier (Kevin), Quinn Provost (Erin O’Halloran), Jared (Heather) Provost, and Robyn Burke (Shelley Hack); great-grandchildren Jade, Hunter and Sierra Burke, Charli-Mae and Madison Herndier, Sienna and Blake Burke-Roberts, Leland Provost, Alistair Provost; brother Orville (Elva) Shaw, sister-in-law Audrey Shaw, in-laws Margaret (Dick) Mellor, Bill (Grace) Burke and many other beloved family members. Born and raised in Fairfax, Manitoba, Edna was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years Edward (Ed) Burke, her brother Donald Shaw and her grandson Shane Burke. Edna Mae Shaw met Ed on a blind date, arranged by their closest friends, Margaret and Fred Tegg. Ed and Edna “Double EE Burke” married on March 26, 1949 and had 59 wonderful years together. After raising their family in Brandon, Edna and Ed retired to Abbotsford in 1991 and later moved to Ladner in 2002 to be closer to their family. A celebration of Edna’s life was held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Ladner Legion. Our sincerest thanks to all the staff at KinVillage, for their attentive care during her stay.
