BLOCKA: It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Allen Myron Blocka on April 24, 2017 at Brandon Regional Health Center with his partner Carole at his bedside. Allen was the eldest son born to Myron and Elsie Blocka on December 23, 1950. After completing his schooling in Brandon, Allen travelled west to Victoria, BC where he remained until his return to Brandon in the early 70s. Here he met his soul mate, Carole, and they became a couple. Allen tried his hand in construction and at Harvard Homes before starting up Multiplex Mgmt. Ltd. which he owned and operated for over 30 years. He often reminisced about his parents, and brother Wayne, packing up the family car and heading out on camping excursions. Fondly remembered were summer holidays spent at his Uncles farm in Saskatchewan. Boating, fishing and his vehicles were a passion along with BBQing. Allen was always surfing the net for new recipes. Allen loved the outdoors and especially his flowers and vegetable gardens which he tended faithfully in Brandon and at the cottage near Clear Lake. His green thumb reflected in his gorgeous flowers and especially his tomatoes. Any project, large or small, were always pursued precisely and meticulously regardless of how long they took to be completed. He was a true handyman. A familiar visitor to the summer flea market at Sportsman Park, Allen could be found scouting the tables for antiques or collectibles which he loved, all the while visiting with the vendors who knew him well. Animals and birds were always guaranteed a meal while the deer at the cottage were always welcome visitors. Having no children, over the years a number of kitties were adopted from the Brandon Humane Society and given a forever home. Allen was famous in the neighborhood for his Christmas lights and displays. Allen went all out at Halloween, dressing up in costume and scaring the living daylights out of the trick or treaters. Allen was predeceased by his only sibling, brother Wayne, and his mother Elsie. He is survived by his partner of 45 years Carole and his father Myron. Allen is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins from Brandon through to BC. Cremation has taken place. Donations in Allens memory may be made to Cancer Society, 415-1st Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8 and the Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th Street East, Brandon, MB, R7A 7M6.
