BERRY: Hilda Mary (Mollie) passed away peacefully at the Russell District Hospital on March 21, 2017 at the age of 87 years. Mollie was born August 1, 1929 in Birtle, Manitoba to Harry and Margaret Stewart. She was the youngest of five children and was raised on the family farm. In October 1949 she married Reg Berry and moved to their own farm where they were true farming partners and raised their family, Robert and Joan. In January, 1976, Mollie had a stroke but, through hard work, perseverance, and months of rehab she was able to regain her independence. In 1992 they moved to Birtle and later (2003) moved to Brandon. Mollie was proud of her community and was involved in many capacities. Over the years, she was active with the church (UCW), the rink board (fundraising), 4-H, and executive of the figure skating club. Mollie took great pride in her children and their accomplishments and spent many hours helping and watching them in their various activities. This pride and interest carried on with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed having extended family members come and stay at the farm, where they always felt welcome. Mollie had a variety of interests including curling, gardening, ceramics, dancing, and playing cards. She was predeceased by her loving husband Reg, her parents Harry and Margaret Stewart, brothers Jack (Jean) Stewart, Ron (Dorothy, Irene) Stewart, and sister Kaye (Art) Harrison, sisters-in-law Doris (Johnnie) Robbie, Mae (Frank) Clarke, Lorna (Albert, Bill) Jarmson, Helen (Red) Bailey and brothers-in-law Art (Elsie) Berry, Bill (Hazel) Berry, and Al Gill. Mollie is lovingly remembered by her son Robert (Brenda), Joan (Brian) Peel, and grandchildren Marc (Michelle) Berry, Rick (Tonya) Berry, Robyn (Shane) Brown, and Jeff and Landon Peel. Also, she is remembered by her great-grandchildren Joe Berry, Josh Kilford, Natalie, Caroline, and Molly Berry, Slone and Brock Brown. She is also survived by one sister, Betty Gill and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held June 10th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Birtle United Church with interment to follow at Birtle Cemetery.
