HAMMERSLEY: Raymond. On June 1, 2017 our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather passed away after a lengthy illness. Leaving to mourn are his children Barbara, Dale (Beth), Maxine, Rita, Lawrence, Brenda, Jack and Dianne as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents John and Lillian Hammersley, wife Margaret (2000), wife Dora (2006), and 3 great-grandsons. Dad was born in Birnie, Manitoba on July 29, 1933. He was the youngest of five children and the last surviving member of his family. Dad firststarted work as a garbage truck driver and then later advanced to a heavy duty mechanic for the City of Brandon in 1954. He worked for the City of Brandon until his retirement in 1988. Dad was a gentle, kind and compassionate father. He loved working on vehicles, working in his garden and helping his family whenever he could. Many hours were spent listening to Dad play his guitar which he learnt at a young age from ear, never having learned to read music. He could pick up any musical instrument and play a tune in just a few minutes. He had a wonderful sense of humor; constantly teasing and playing jokes. Dad was a quiet and modest man. In keeping with Raymond’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. A private family service will be held at a later date.Messages of condolencemay be placed atwww.brockiedonovan.com
