FOWLER: Marlene Ethel Fowler. After a short illness, Marlene Fowler passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba at the age of 79. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Brent (Patricia) Fowler and Dale (Gail) Fowler; grandchildren Bryan (Shallon), Jenna, Brad and Tanner, as well as two great grandchildren Nathan and Brylon. Marlene is also survived by her sister in law Eleanor Poyser (who was more like a sister to her), good friend Marge Bate, and many other friends, nieces, nephews and cousins. Marlene was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1989, her parents Frank and Hilda Limb, sister Irene, brothers in law Harold Howe, Len Poyser, and Bill Angus, sister in law Iva Angus, and special Aunt Ethel McFadyen. Marlene was born on March 16, 1938 to Frank and Hilda (nee Helliwell) Limb in Dauphin, Manitoba. She grew up on the family farm north of Roblin, Manitoba. Marlene attended school in Roblin and after completing Grade 11 she moved to Winnipeg to train as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Marlene nursed in Roblin, Dauphin and Brandon, and retired in the early 1990s after nearly 25 years working on the pediatric ward of the Brandon General Hospital. Marlene loved being at home, and enjoyed working in her yard and garden, and lived for over 35 years in Highland Park where she and Walter were one of the first residents. Marlene moved to Sokol Manor in March 2016 and lived there until her hospitalization in January 2017 and her move to Hillcrest Place in April 2017. Marlene immensely enjoyed spending time with her family, and was especially proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Some of her happiest times were camping and boating with Walter at Rivers Provincial Park or their favorite spot at Lake of The Prairies. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a funeral service was held on June 23, 2017 at 1:30 PM at the Chapel of Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home in Roblin, with Mrs. Grace Skomorowski officiating. A eulogy was provided by Dale Fowler and Marge Bate. Grandson Bryan Fowler was the urn bearer. Marlene was laid to rest beside her beloved husband Walter in Roblin District Cemetery. Following the interment service, a reception for family and friends was held at Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully declined and donations in Marlenes memory to either the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba, Unit 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2 or the Canadian Cancer Society 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7 would be appreciated.
