GOURLAY: George Edwin, February 26, 1923 - June 22, 2017. George Edwin Gourlay, RCAF (ret.) passed away Thursday, June 22 at the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre, Ottawa. Surrounded by a loving family, George was the devoted husband of Helen May Arnold, beloved father of Donna Catherine Hawkes, cherished father-in-law of Terence Hawkes, brother of Douglas Gourlay (Audrey), Brandon, uncle of Diane (Mike Martel), Regina, Joan (Ed Nemetchek), Swan River, Gerald (Darlene) Gourlay, Rivers, Robert (Cheryl) Gourlay, Regina, and Maureen Broady, Ottawa. Born and raised at Oak River, Manitoba, George was predeceased by his brothers Allisdair, Robert, Frederick, and in 1954 by infant son Arnold Judson. After a fruitful and upright life full of years his spirit will continue to live among us. He will be sorely missed by his family and his many friends. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church 1099 Maitland Ave., Ottawa, on Thursday, July 6 at 11:30 a.m. followed by a reception in the hall.
