AUBE: Lorne Aube, of Douglas, Manitoba, beloved husband of Wenda and father of Amber (Corey), Courtney (Robert), Lyndsey (Kevin), Brittany (Brayden) and Chelsea (Greg) passed away July 30, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Lorne was born in Dryden, Ontario, on April 28, 1959 to Lloyd and Lois Aube. He was the oldest child and big brother to Brian and Patti. The family moved to Brandon when Lorne was seven years old. At age 14, Lorne started working at Pizza Place where he eventually became Manager. Lorne later worked as a store keeper at Brandon Mental Health Centre where he was also very involved with the Union as well as Health and Safety. With the closing of BMHC, Lorne and Wenda purchased the Douglas General Store in 1997. Together they managed the store. In 2003, Lorne went to work with Pratts Wholesale. Wenda continues to manage the store and post office. Lorne was the Past President of the Shilo Service Club and a member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Unit 10 Brandon for over thirty years. He was a Past President and Life Member. Lorne was also Past President of the Manitoba and Northwest Ontario Provincial Command where he earned every medal possible including the highest honour, the Award of Merit, from Dominion Command on July 1, 2017. Lorne loved sports and participated in many. He always enjoyed a friendly bet especially if the Montreal Canadians or the Minnesota Vikings were playing! Most of all, Lorne loved the lake and spent as much time as he could at his cabin visiting with friends, family and his cat Laker. Lorne was predeceased by his father, Lloyd. He is survived by his wife, Wenda; his mother Lois; brother Brian (Izabelle); sister Patti and eleven grandchildren: Layne, Rylan, Payge, Pyper, Ryder (Amber); Todd, Darian (Courtney); Deklan, Cole, Madden and Makinley (Lyndsey); as well as many nieces, nephews and great nephews. A Celebration of Lornes Life was held at Central United Church on August 4, 2017 with Kim Lewarne officiating. Urn Bearers were nephews Darrick Aube, Jeff Pujo and Jordan Aube. The Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans served as Honour Guard. A time of fellowship was held at the A.N.A.F. Club Room. The Douglas United Church supported Lorne and kept him in their prayers throughout his battle with cancer.
