MACAULAY: Katherina Tina Macaulay was born on November 28, 1940 to Sara (nee Koethler) and Jacob Loeppky. She grew up in Stuartburn, Manitoba, the fourth of twelve siblings. Tina recalls having to walk quite a distance to school each day, but she continued and finished her high school education. After graduation, Tina moved to Winnipeg where she worked at the St. Amant Centre for a number of years. She decided to enrol in the registered nursing course and upon completion of her degree, she moved to Brandon and started work at the Assiniboine Centre. Tina was stationed on the palliative care ward, for approximately twenty years, retiring in 1999. Tina married George Macaulay from Brandon in 1979 and together they raised sons Don and Micheal. Tina will be remembered for her steady help and support for her family, and being humorously sarcastic, a Loeppky trait that she demonstrated in full measure. She loved their acreage, where she tended to her bird feeders, flowers and vegetable garden. She had a special love for wind chimes, which can be found all over the yard and house. And, of course we cannot forget Tina's homemade buns which she generously shared with all. Many family and friends were always thrilled to be the recipients of delicious "Tina buns". Tina was instrumental in coordinating Loeppky family gatherings and she also enjoyed a number of close friendships. Tina was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago and despite valiant medical efforts Tina found herself back on the Assiniboine palliative care unit, now as a patient. Tina died in the Assiniboine Centre on Monday, August 7th, 2017. Tina is survived by her husband George, son Micheal and son Don (Carolee) as well as her grandchildren: Amelia, Eli and Cooper. She is also survived by her eleven Loeppky siblings: Henry, Susan Thiessen, Mary, Ann Heinrichs, Sadie Petker, Betty Boyce, Lena Bezditny, Jake, Joe, Esther and Jerry, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. The Ceremony to Celebrate Tina's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Monday, August 14, 2017. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Tina may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415 - 1st Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2W8.Expressions of sympathymay be made atwww.memorieschapel.com
