Clara BLACKWOOD

BLACKWOOD: (nee Fortune), Clara of Minnedosa, formally of Newdale, passed away peacefully on December 23,2017 at the Minnedosa Personal Care Home at the age of 98 years. Clara was born September 27,1919 on the family farm to Harold and Helen Fortune. She met and later married Geordie Blackwood of Newdale on November 10, 1945.  They farmed at Newdale from 1945 until 1974 at which time they retired to Minnedosa.  In retirement, Mom enjoyed golfing, bowling, walking, cribbage and crafts. She was predeceased by her husband Geordie in January of 2000. Also by all of her siblings, Robert, Marguerite, John, Clarence (her twin), Edwin and Muriel.  Mom is survived by two daughters, Sheila Stevenson (Pete), Shirley Slashinsky (Rev.Fr.Mel). Also survived by three granddaughters, Vicki Ardron (Todd), Melissa and Amanda Slashinsky, and two great grandsons, Dustin and Tanner Ardron.  Also surviving are three sister-in-laws and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Minnedosa Funeral Service Chapel.  Internment will follow the service at the Minnedosa Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Minnedosa Personal Care Home re: Patio ProjectMinnedosa Funeral Services are in charge of the arrangements.Messages of condolences may be place online at www.minnedosafs.caThe family would like to thank the staff of the Minnedosa Personal Care Home for the excellent care shown to Mom.
