MUNROE: On Friday, June 22, 2018, Edith Rhoda Munroe (nee Wall), passed away at Dinsdale Personal Care Home at the age of 87 years. Edith was predeceased by her husband Leslie Hugh Munroe, parents Jesse and Audrey Wall, brother James Wall, and brothers/sisters-in-law Craig MacNair and David (Beryl) Munroe. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Beth Wall and Bernice MacNair, nephews David (Karen) Wall and Kenneth (Kara) MacNair, niece Marian MacNair (Scott Bohle), three great-nephews; Grant Wall, Ian MacNair, and Billy MacNair, four great-nieces; Brittany (Stephen) Melnyk, Lydia MacNair, Hannah MacNair, and Maeve MacNair; and god-daughter Lorna (Glenn) Ball. Born and raised in Brandon, Edith worked as a Clerk with Manitoba Government Telephones and then at the Industrial Acceptance Corporation which became the Continental Bank of Canada. Edith was a member of First Presbyterian Church which brought her great joy. During her lifetime, Edith had a passion for music which was reflected with her involvement in the Choir and Hand Bell Choir at First Presbyterian Church as well as years of dedicated service with the Brandon Festival of Arts. Edith served on numerous boards such as Daly House Museum and was an Honourary Member of the Manitoba Associated Arts Festivals. During their married life, Edith and Les had numerous Boston Terriers. From their love of dogs came their involvement with the Crocus Obedience Dog Club, Boston Terrier Newsletter, taking dogs to visit residents at Personal Care Homes, and upon retirement travelling with the SuperDogs show. Who can forget Edith's French Bulldogs Brooke and Andre. Edith had a fantastic memory and would send cards to friends and relatives in celebration of their birthdays or other special events. Edith always had a sparkle in her eye and enjoyed life. A Celebration of Edith's Life will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 339 12th Street, Brandon, on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Glenn Ball and Rev. Laura Hargrove officiating. A reception will follow at the Church. Edith will be laid to rest beside her husband Les in a private ceremony at the Brandon Cemetery.
