BEVERIDGE: Mary Josephine Jo Beveridge, 83, of Carberry, MB, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2018 surrounded by her husband and family. Jo was born in 1935 in Airdrie, Scotland and was the eldest of five siblings. Jo was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Margaret McGuire and her brother George. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Tom Beveridge, children Brian (Jan), John (Bonnie), Thomas (Jocelyn) and Patricia (Dennis); her grandchildren Kieran, Ainsley, Julia, Bailey, Patrick, Stephanie, Candace, Courtney, Alicia and Whitney; her great-grandchildren Sofia, Maliyah, Arianna, Delara, Ivy, Parisa, Caitlyn, Emily, and Anna; her sisters Margaret, Kitty, and Patricia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland. Jo studied nursing at the Royal Glasgow Infirmary graduating as a RN. She then did further studies to become a midwife. While at the infirmary, she met a handsome doctor in training (Dad) whom she married in 1959. Soon after, they emigrated to Canada, eventually settling in Carberry. Being a nurse and caring for people was extremely important to Jo and when she returned to work after having 4 children, she worked alongside Dad at Carberry Hospital and Personal Care Home for over 20 years. They made a great team and almost everyone in Carberry was cared for in one way or another by this dynamic duo. Jo was also a volunteer with many community organizations. Jo loved her garden, spending many hours tending to her plants. She relished being outside in the sunshine. She could often be seen enjoying her favorite sport, golf, in Clear Lake and Carberry. Winters were spent curling or clogging with her pals. Jo and Tom also enjoyed many years of golf holidays in Florida. Jo and Toms special place was Clear Lake. All the kids and grandkids spent time there and it was where they got to bond with Nana. The lake, the golf course, the wishing well, Kathryn Lake and the beauty of the rest of the park were things that Mom and Dad loved to share - but the most special place of all was Nanas Brown House at the Elkhorn Resort. Jo will always be remembered as a caring, wise, unassuming, and generous person as well as having a true fun-loving and sparkling personality. Most importantly, she will be remembered for her loving adoration of all children and especially her own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was proud of each and every one of them. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Jos many friends who visited her over the years she spent in the care home. They would also like to thank Dr. Jane Ward and the staff at Carberry Personal Care Home and the volunteer Palliative Care Organization for their excellent care over the years. Special thanks to Father Mark Filips for his spiritual guidance during a difficult time and to Father Michael Raj Savarimuthu for officiating at the funeral mass. After a long and courageous illness with Alzheimers disease, Jos death has brought her to a place of peace. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her, but we know that she is watching over us until we meet again. Prayers and a Funeral Mass were held at Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Carberry on July 16, 2018. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Whites Funeral Home was in care of arrangements. If friends so desire, donations in Jos memory may be made to Carberry Personal Care Home, the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, or a charity of their choice.Expressions of sympathy can be made at www.whitesfh.ca
