BERG: It is with deep sadness that the family of Roy Hilding Berg announce his passing on September 30, 2018 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 84 years. He is finally at peace after his brave fight with recent illness over the last year. He is predeceased by his father Ole Berg and beloved mother Berta Berg (nee Haldorsen). He leaves to mourn his loving wife Jean Berg (nee Tessari), sister Ellen Kjartanson (Steve-deceased), brother Orville Berg (Beatrice), step children and grandchildren, many nieces and nephews who adored him dearly, extended relatives and friends. He was a hard worker and always willing to help everyone, a gentle giving soul that filled the world with his kindness and contagious smile. During his career Roy lived in Calgary and worked with Canadian Frieghtways; where he achieved 43 years of service and a perfect safety record after 3.5 million miles. He was a devoted family man, an avid fisherman, great story teller, excellent gardener with a love for the land and especially the mountains, a true perfectionist at whatever he did. A celebration of his life will be held at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Danvers district, Erickson, Manitoba on October 20, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. It was Roy's wishes to have his ashes return to Manitoba where he always called home.

Roy came into our mom's life when I was quite young, and he stepped up as a father figure, mentor friend and husband to our mom Pauline Udey who came with an all ready family. Roy became the brother in Law and buddy to many people in our large family on mom's side. We love and miss you as our family grows with, what would be your great-grandchildren.
