BUSSEY: Dorothy Sarah Bussey, age 87 years, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Fairview Home. She was born September 25, 1931 and was the third child of Alexander and Mabel (Fuller) Henderson of Oak Lake Beach, Manitoba. Dorothy and her six siblings worked hard on the family farm doing chores and she sometimes spoke passionately of those years. The trips back and forth to school, trapping muskrats, and some of the antics of her siblings were her favourites. Later on, she began her working career at Wawanesa Insurance, Central United Church, Manitoba Agriculture Centre and retired from Assiniboine Centre as a Unit Clerk in 1994. Dorothy was an avid gardener and taught many young, aspiring children at Brandon Junior Gardeners Club for many years. She took pride in her work. Flowers, vegetables and butterflies were her passion and gave her great satisfaction. Dorothy also liked to bowl, play bingo and create ceramics. She made a number of trips to places like Portugal, Germany, BC, Ontario and Branson, Missouri with friends and relatives. Visiting distant relatives was very memorable for her. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Donna (John) Friesen, son Grant Watt, son Jim (Diana) Watt, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, sisters Alice (Jack) Olive of Oak Lake and Phyllis (Murray) Kennedy of Calgary, brother Bill Henderson of Brandon and by her numerous nephews, nieces and family members. She was predeceased by her son George Watt, sisters Margaret Orr of Elkhorn and Jessie Stewart of Pipestone and her brother John Henderson of Oak Lake. A Graveside Ceremony will take place at the Oak Lake Cemetery on Saturday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the Oak Lake Legion Hall. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3 or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 4B-457-9th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 1K2 or a charity of your choice.
