HASLEN: Jean Marguerite Haslen (nee Brownridge) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the age of 98 years. Jean was born the oldest of 9 children to Harold and Marguerite Brownridge. Her family farmed near Forrest Manitoba. Jean trained to be a RN at Portage Hospital before marrying Ralph Leonard Haslen. Together they raised 4 children. Jean loved gardening and volunteering at church, community programs and events. Many garden parties and family get-togethers were held in her yard. Jean was very active and loved hiking and swimming. Jean was predeceased by her husband Ralph in 1998 and son Ian in 2006. Left to mourn are Rae Mullens, Jim (Myrna) Haslen and Doris (Wayne) Single and Susan Harris. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren will also miss her happy and spunky nature. A Funeral Service will be held at Central United Church, 327 8th Street on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 1:00 PM. Donations in Jean’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
