BURTON: Clair Francis. The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Prince County Hospital in Summerside on Friday, July 19, 2019 aged 85 years. Born on the family farm at Croll, MB, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna ( Plunkett ) Burton. Clair attended country school in Croll and then high school in Boissevain. He lived in Boissevain and worked for the Manitoba Highways Department in the engineering department for 38 years. He was married to Judith Elizabeth Paterson and has 2 children, Pam ( Day ) and Greg Burton. In 1992 Clair retired and moved with his wife Judy to Edmonton, wintered in Kelowna, then later to Summerside, PEI in 2012. Clair enjoyed all types of sports especially hockey, baseball and golf. He played minor hockey in Boissevain and junior hockey in Brandon and Flin Flon. He enjoyed a long senior hockey career with the Killarney Shamrocks and Boissevain Border Kings both as a player and as a player/coach as well as playing 10 years with the Brandon Molson Pioneers. He loved baseball as a kid and later played with Boissevain and Riverside Canucks. Other enjoyments were golfing, travelling with their 5th wheel trailer, and visiting PEI. He was active in the Boissevain Lions Club, serving two terms as president, coaching minor hockey and baseball. He greatly enjoyed visiting and spending time with his grandchildren. To all of these activities Clair brought his positive and fun loving attitude towards life and thoughts to helping his community. He is survived by his wife Judy (Paterson) Burton, daughter Pamela (Darren) Day, son Gregory (Heather Ross) Burton; grandchildren Christopher, Michael and Steven Day, Robin Burton and Kate Ross; brothers Robert and Frank (Sandra) Burton; sisters Wilma Seafoot and Jean Percy and by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Bernice Campbell, brothers Allan, Keith, Lyle and Floyd Burton, sister-in-law Margaret Burton and by brothers-in-law Glenn Campbell, Garth Seafoot and Ellis Percy. Services to be held on Friday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Boissevain United Church with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Boissevain and Morton Foundation. boissevainmortonfoundation.ca
