SQUANCE: On Tuesday, August 6, 2019, peacefully, with his family by his side, Larry Ivan Squance passed away at the HSC Winnipeg at the age of 80 years as the result of a massive stroke. Larry was born in Grandview, Manitoba on August 21, 1938, the eldest son of Ivan and Jessie Squance. Larry married Linda Jones, daughter of Howard and Ruby Jones, on August 7, 1959. They resided on Larrys fathers farm until March, 1963 when Larry commenced employment with Grandview Co-op. In 1966 Larry accepted a position as Lumber Manager at Sandy Lake Co-op, in 1970 he became the General Manager. In 1980 they moved to Erickson when Larry became General Manager of Erickson Co-op. Larry was very active in the community, serving on the Erickson Town Council, Lutheran Church Council, Chamber of Commerce and various other committees. Larry was a member of the Mixed Curling Club, Erickson Lions Club and the Erickson Legion. Larry retired in 1996 and enjoyed carpentry and woodworking in his basement shop. When Linda joined him in retirement in 2000, they spent the winters in Victoria, BC to be close to daughter, Tracy and her family. Larry was predeceased by his parents, parents-in-law, brother Mervin, and sister-in-law Darlene. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Linda, daughters Sherry (Dennis) Green and Tracy (Bob) Bridger, five grandchildren: Jeremy (Aubrey) Teskey, Ben (Liza) Green, Matthew Teskey, Elijah (Raquel) Green and Jessi (Evan) Krahn, eight great-grandchildren, brothers Jack, Glen (Betty) and Gerald, brother-in-law Gordon (Barb) Jones, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Larry will also be missed by many friends in both Manitoba and British Columbia. A private interment of ashes will take place at Erickson Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Erickson Lutheran Church. Donations may be made to Erickson Lutheran Church or Erickson Services to Seniors.
