LOWDEN: Mary Elizabeth Betty Lowdon (Morrison) April 1, 1924-July 28, 2019. Betty passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Delwynda Court Personal Care Home in Deloraine, MB. She is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children; Brian (Vickey) of Brandon, Pat (Don) Temple of Waskada and Cindy (Brent) Lesy of Waskada; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Leslie Lowdon, parents Charles and Agnes Morrison, brother Jack Morrison, sisters Kathleen Morrison, Hazel Tyreman and Pearl Thomas. Betty was born on the farm south east of Goodlands. She was the youngest child of Charles and Agnes Morrison. The farm where she grew up was situated on the edge of the Turtle Mountains near the Canadian/United States Border. Betty received her education at Croydon and Mons Country School Houses and completed her grade 9 and 10 by correspondence. Betty spent the next several years of her life helping out on the family farm. She met Leslie Lowdon in 1945 and they were married on November 19, 1947. Together they had a busy life farming near Goodlands, raising their 3 children and helping out with numerous community clubs and events. In 1978 Betty and Les retired from farming and had a new home built at 614 Morton Avenue in Deloraine. As a couple they enjoyed travelling, camping, fishing and tending to their yard and garden. They were members of the Turtle Mountain Twisters Square Dance Club and they danced all across Canada and the United States. Betty was a member of the Brock Social Group, the Deloraine and Goodlands UCWs and Legion Auxiliaries. She enjoyed curling in the occasional bonspiel in Goodlands, knitting, puzzling, quilting and ceramics. She also served on the Library Board, volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program and the Thrift Shop. Betty loved tending to her plants and flower gardens. After Less passing in 2011, Betty moved to Border Hills Apartments and in May of 2015 she made Delwynda Court Personal Care Home her final home. Betty was the heart of her family. She loved each and everyone unconditionally and family get togethers were always a priority. There was always time for a cup of tea and a quick game of crib. Her quick wit and quiet, mischievous ways entertained all who knew her. Her strong will and positive attitude allowed her to always make the best of any situation life handed her. A private Family Interment took place on August 2, 2019 at Goodlands Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at Deloraine United Church. Reverend Christopher Davis performed the service with Nola Meggison as pianist. Pallbearers were Grandsons; Chad Lowdon, Todd Temple, Brad Lesy, Brad McKinney, Paul Jajam and Terry Pavely. A noon reception was held at Deloraine Legion. Bettys Family would like to take this opportunity to thank Reverend Davis for his service, care and counselling, Wheatland Funeral Home for their compassionate service and the Legion Ladies for the delicious lunch. Thank you to the staff at Delwynda Court for their gentle care and compassion, the Goodlands Forget-Me-Knot Quilters for the beautiful quilt and to Palliative Care for the refreshment trolley and baking.
