KOVAR: Rudy Albert Kovar. Rudy passed away peacefully at his farm house on October 4, 2019 at the age of 79. Rudy leaves to mourn his passing his daughters Valerie Kovar of Cypress River and Diane Kovar of Brandon, son David Kovar of Glenboro, four grandchildren Cole, Kaitlinn (Michael), Cassie (Lucas) and Alyshea. He is also survived by his sisters Mary (William) Ohanka of Wawanesa and Ella Green of Treherne, brother-in-law Tom (Bev) Jones of King City, ON as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. Rudy was predeceased by his loving wife Geraldine (nee Jones) in 2017, parents Stan and Valerie Kovar, son-in-law Darryl Price, father and mother-in-law Jerry and Thelma (nee Thompson) Jones, step mother-in-law Alma Jones (Berry) and brother-in-law Eric Green. Rudy was born June 4, 1940 , the only son and youngest child of Stanley and Valerie Kovar. He attended Hecla school and when he got older decided farming was his passion. In 1961, he met his soul mate Geraldine Jones at Bob and Olivia Jewsbury's wedding. On October 23, 1965 they married and moved on to Geraldine's dad's farm as they helped them recover from a serious car accident the year prior. In 1971, they moved to the Kovar homestead where they raised their 3 children. He farmed 400 acres and had 65 cows. Rudy was actively involved in the community, leading the local 4-H Beef Club, following many of the Baldur Barons hockey games, playing baseball with the Hecla Hicks, and curling. Rudy was also active with the Glenboro Ag Society. He became president in 1993, and held that title until he passed away. When Rudy semi-retired from farming he became a yard man for Crop Production Services, and for the first time in his life was on someone's payroll and earned his first actual deducted paycheque. He was in his 60's! Mom and Dad's favorite pastimes was going on day trips, visiting friends, taking in the scenery and enjoying each other's company. A Celebration of Rudy's life was held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Glenboro Kinsmen Community Hall with Sharon Hamilton officiating. Interment has taken place in the Glenboro Cemetery.
