FOWLER: It is with sadness that the family of Geraldine (Gerry) Marjorie Fowler announce her passing on November 18, 2019 at the age of 79 years. Gerry was predeceased by her parents Orville and Hannah (Begg) Fowler and sister Pat Eluik. She is survived by brothers Doug (Buella) and Bruce (Shirley) also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Gerry was born in Souris, MB but lived the majority of her life in Virden, MB. She graduated from Virden High School and commenced her career working in the office of the family business (Fowler & Sons). She continued in this capacity as the General Motors dealership changed hands. She also spent many years working tirelessly for the Chamber of Commerce. Gerry's passion for arts and crafts as well as her dogs and horses, meant her life crossed paths with many many people. These passions also involved her in community events, sitting on committees, boards and being instrumental in the fine tuning of many of these events. Gerry was passionate about all things equine as a participant, administrator and a judge. Gerry was involved with the 4H Club, Agricultural Society, Virden Riding Club, Indoor Rodeo, Western Hackney Assoc., Manitoba Gymkana Rodeo Assoc., and the Manitoba Light Horse Association. For her dedication and involvement, Gerry was honored in 2013, by being inducted into the Horseman's Hall of Fame. Gerry was also a member of the Virden Legion, receiving her 50 year pin in 2019. In respect of Gerry's wishes, a private service will be held in the spring.
