EAKINS: It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ferle Marlene Eakins. She passed suddenly on November 5, 2019 at the age of 82. Ferle was born in the R.M. of Ellice, MB July 17, 1937. Ferle was raised and lived in Brandon, MB for most of her life. During her schooling years she attended Central School and Park School in Brandon. In her early employment years Ferle worked in the dining room of Clark Hall (Brandon University) for a short time as well as Rumfords Dry Cleaners which later became Perths Dry Cleaners where she worked for several years. Ferle married in her twenties and moved to Toronto, ON shortly thereafter for a few years before returning to Brandon. During her short years of marriage she had three children whom she loved dearly and raised on her own after her marriage ended. Ferles maternal instinct made her strong to weather some of lifes hardships and she devoted her life to her children. She gave of herself unconditionally all of the time. Ferle was a striking and beautiful woman who always presented herself well. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook with cakes and cookies for every occasion and always homemade. Ferle had many talents and always made life events, holidays and birthdays special. She was very artistic with her decorative crafts throughout the years for every occasion. Ferle enjoyed sewing, making many things throughout her years for her children, from Halloween costumes, doll furniture, and later years her decorative embroidery on many linens that her children and grandchildren have. In the early years of the 1970s Hector McDonald came into Ferles life and they became loving partners and a family with her children for the rest of their years. During those years they became day care providers for many children, over 20 years forming meaningful bonds with the children and their families. Over the years with her family, Ferle enjoyed many family gatherings and took pleasure in the simple things of family life. She liked to play cards, board games, watch old movies, listen to country music and read romance novels. She always enjoyed family outings and picnics and attending school functions for her children and grandchildren. She was never a sports fan until her oldest grandson became a football player and she watched every game on TV. Ferles children and grandchildren meant everything to her and she was so very proud of them and every accomplishment they made. There was never any judgment and she always made you feel cherished as quoted by her granddaughter. Ferle will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered and cherished by her family.
