It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lena Arkinson on October 2, 2020, at the Selkirk General Hospital.
Lena was born in Fort Alexander, Manitoba on October 30, 1944, to parents Madeleine and Edward Courchene. She was predeceased by her loving husband William Arkinson; her parents; her brothers, Wallace, Norman, Gilbert, Mike and Eric; her sisters, Norma, Marge and Agnes; special sisters-in-law/close friends, Linda, Grace and Mary; her niece Kayla and nephew Tyler. She leaves to mourn her siblings, Isabelle, Mary (Wilfred), Lila (Terry), Lorna, Richard (Mabel), Ephrem (Josephine), Neil (Darlene), Nelson (Doreen), Sam (Laverne) and Paul; her special nieces/nephews, Tania, Darlene Loane, Darlene Arkinson, Samantha, Archie, Willy, David, Brian, Camille, and many more too numerous to name; her godchildren, Archie, Langford, Kaitlyn and Cheyenne; numerous relatives and friends.
Lena had many interesting career choices throughout her lifetime; finally settling down wanting to help others as a Health Care Aide at the George M. Guimond Care Centre from 1986 to 2018 (32 years) right up until the time of her short illness.
We would like to thank the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital and the George M. Guimond Care Centre for their care and compassion given to Lena. An extra special thanks to Gloria Duke her nurse/friend for going above and beyond to make sure Lena was comfortable, for being supportive and to always listen to her concerns and needs.
