Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS SOBERING (KRENTZ)Feb. 22, 1933-Sept. 6, 2020Gladys Sobering, age 87, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020 at Bethesda Place, Steinbach, MB.She will be sadly missed by her children, Karen (Henry), Brenda (Jake), Jenny, Ken (Linda); daughter-in-law, Acie; her grandchildren, Shannon, Brooks, Teresa, Robert, Nathan, Clayton, Lucy, Jamie, Tracy, Amber, Carrie and Joe; her 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Irene Hunt (John Prosavich); family and friends.She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, William (Bill), son Darren, brother William Krentz, sisters Lillian Schalla and Frieda Krentz, and son-in-law Garry Auch.Gladys was born Feb. 22, 1933 in the Friedensfeld area to Leo and Olga Krentz. After school, she worked in Winnipeg at St Boniface and King Edward Hospital until 1952. She married Bill Sobering in St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Steinbach on Feb. 23, 1952. Gladys started working at various jobs in 1962, including the Stylerite store for five years. In 1970, she became employed at Penner Merit and later Penner Foods until she retired in December 1996.Gladys was a member of the ELW for many years and enjoyed volunteering at Bethesda Health Care Auxiliary and Ten Thousand Villages.Thank you to all the friends that visited and kept Mom in their prayers. A special thank you to Ina Bloch; Mom looked forward to your visits and appreciated all the beautiful flowers you would bring.A special thank you to the staff at Bethesda Place for the wonderful care they gave Mom and their thoughtfulness to the family during this difficult time.The Public Come & Go viewing was held on Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 7:30-8:15 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.A Private Family Service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10 at St Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Steinbach, MB. Burial will take place at St Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery following the service for immediate family only.In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gladys Sobering may be made to The Bethesda Foundation, Unit 3 - 380 Stone Bridge Crossing, Steinbach, MB, R5G 2R1 or The St Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Memorial Fund, 465 Henry St, Steinbach, MB, R5G 0H1.
