JEAN VERONICA ‘NELLIE’ PLESSIS

(née Farlane)

Peacefully, Jean Veronica ‘Nellie’ Plessis (née Farlane) returned to the bosom of her Maker and the Maker of all things at Bethesda Place in Steinbach, MB, on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019.

Jean was born Aug. 6, 1931 in Calcutta, India, daughter of Wilfred ‘Willy’ Farlane ‘Farlam’ and Clarissa (née Bird). At the age of 20, she immigrated to London, England with custody of her six-year-old brother, Patrick. In 1967, when Patrick had completed his schooling, she came to Canada. She married her husband of more than 50 years on Dec. 21, 1968 at St Basil’s Catholic Church in Toronto, ON.

She is survived by her husband, Francis Plessis; her children, Elise Plessis, Catherine (Matt) Wiens, and Philip Plessis; her brother, Patrick (Mary decd) Farlane living in Kent, UK and his children Kelly, Sarah, Ian (Alison), Andrew; her nephew, Robert Mannooch; her grandchildren, Nelson, Skylar (Jasmine), Cierra (Reg), Farren (Tyler), Raven (Zack), Brooklyn and Brett Wiens, Ashton, Tess and Alexis Greening; her great-grandchildren, Kenton and Milo Koop.

She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Yvonne Ziska ‘Doddie’ Richards and Heather Philomena ‘June’ Mannooch; her nephews, Richard and Michael Dowling.

We wish to thank the wonderful staff at Bethesda Place and the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, and her close friend Margaret Waldner for making her final years enjoyable and comfortable.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. at the Christ our Saviour Catholic Church, 365 Loewen Blvd, Steinbach, MB.
