Lyle J. Spicer, age 80, of Vassar, MB, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Marcelle; daughter, Andrea (Ken); grandchildren, Stephanie (Nicholas), Tiffany (Kevin), Courtney (Tyrell); great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Dax; siblings, Lorraine (Matt), Hazel (Ed), Carl (Elaine), Jerry (Bernice), Hallard (Nancy), Abe (Jay); and sisters-in-law, Marie (Lynn), Donna (Bill), and Duane (Wanda).

Lyle was predeceased by his parents, Herb and Anne; brothers, Lynn and Walter; step-parents, George and Jean Boutang; and step-sisters, Lorrie and Shelley.

Lyle was born and raised in Vassar, MB. At 17 years of age, Lyle started work for Boutang Enterprises. He worked various jobs for the company, including wood cutter, truck driver and eventually manager. His passion was working in the bush and he even spent his days off taking family for rides “to the bush.”

Lyle retired from Boutang Enterprises in 1995 when they sold the business. Retirement life was not for Lyle and shortly after retirement he found himself doing various odd jobs that he never got to try before, including working at Marvin Windows, building roads and hauling water. Eventually, he returned to the bush in 1999 to work for the “competition” - J. Hovorka and Sons - running their processor. He retired in 2007 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

Lyle’s life was his family. He lived to see his grandchildren graduate from high school, danced at their weddings and played with his great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 19, 2019 at 2 p.m. the Vassar Hall in Vassar, MB.
