Apr. 5, 1959-Mar. 7, 2019
Unexpectedly, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB, Mike passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, Mar. 7, 2019 at the age of 59.
Mike had many achievements throughout his life, one of which was his two children, Heather and Jordan. He had a great deal of pride in how they grew up to be the wonderful adults they are today. He always treasured the time he had with his family and looked forward to having a future son-in-law.
His career spanned over many years working as a corporate controller for several companies, his latest employer being The Pal Group in Winnipeg. He was always a dedicated employee who took his job very seriously.
Mike enjoyed travelling to the Twin Cities with his wife Pat to see his favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings. He cherished the time they had together during their trips to football games and the Mall of America.
Mike will be sadly missed by his wife Pat of 33 years, his daughter Heather (Ryan), son Jordan, father Nick (Nettie), brother Dennis, sister Carol (Kevin) Bride and nieces Amanda and Samantha (Jesse) Koniak, as well as many other members of his extended family. Mike was predeceased by his mother Doris Koniak, grandparents Eva and John Chubaty and Nicholas and Lena Koniak.
During Mike’s stay at the Health Sciences Centre he received exceptional care from many specialists and nurses. They went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that all of his needs and the needs of his family were met. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr Tim Hiebert of the internal medicine ward, charge nurses Sara and Vanessa, ER doctors Patrick and Lauren. Each one worked diligently and swiftly to ensure that Mike’s issues were attended to. Our family appreciates all the efforts that were involved and could not have asked for any better care.
We would like to thank all of the family members, friends and acquaintances for their support during this difficult time, especially those who dropped everything to come to our aid.
Services will be held on Saturday, Mar. 16 at 11 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 W, Steinbach, MB.
