Amédée Sabourin died suddenly on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at the Morris Hospital, at 92 years of age.
Amédée leaves to mourn his wife of 68 years, Thérèse (Larivière); his children, Diane (René Perreault), Réjane (Denis Fillion), Hubert (Edmée Bilodeau), Daniel (Terry Landry), Gaétane (Raynald Dupuis), and Marie-Paule (Luc Brémault); his daughter-in-law, Jacqueline (Barnabé) (Rick Tycholis); his 24 grandchildren, their spouses, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Amédée was predeceased by his son Ulric and his parents, Ulric and Élisabeth.
Amédée was the sixth of 11 children: † Florence († Gérard Talbot), Cécile († Marcel Turcotte,† Roland Provost), Rose-Aimée († Louis Pavlik), † Théodore († Bella Desrochers), † Lucie († Norbert Clément), Denise (Donat Touchette), † Roland (Corinne Garand), Lorraine († Bernard Ricard), Luc (Yvette Lafond), and Marc.
Amédée’s life work was farming. He loved the smell of soil in the springtime in St-Jean-Baptiste, where he and Thérèse raised their family. Amédée had a strong will, which helped him overcome personal challenges. His newfound freedom gave him a new life with his large family, a family that gave him immense pride. He loved to tell stories and he loved to laugh, while playing cards or checkers. He also enjoyed travelling, especially by plane, with his wife Thérèse. In the summer, you could find both of them camping in their Boler, either in Emerson or in Richer. Amédée did not like the fall season, and in the end, after 92 years, it is in this same season that he left this life.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018 at the St-Jean-Baptiste Catholic Church, and will be presided by Father Patrice Kasonga. Music and eulogy will begin at 4 p.m. and the funeral mass will follow at 4:30 p.m. A reception will follow at the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Centennial Hall.
