It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Sandra Christine Friesen, at the age of 64. She was born January 21, 1954, in Steinbach, Manitoba, to Arley and Katie Reimer. She passed away suddenly on February 17, 2018, at the Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK.
Chris is survived by her 3 children: Michael & Heather, Jason & Shannon, Kimberly, and 4 grandchildren, Quentin, Colton (Haley), Ashley, and Mason (Courtney and great granddaughter Faith). She is also survived by her siblings: Karen Entz, Cori Brown and their families.
She was predeceased by her husband John, son-in-law Rob, brother-in-law Mel, parents Arley and Katie, and grandson, Cody.
As we sorrow, we also celebrate the life that Chris shared with the many people that she loved and the many joys that life brought to her.
Chris met the love of her life, John in 1968, at the Steinbach Ice Arena, they were married April 17, 1970. Together they were blessed with 3 beautiful children. Chris dedicated her life to her family. She loved and cared for them passionately. The sun rose and set on her husband and children. When the grandchildren started appearing, they became the new center of her life.
Her sisters were also a very important to her, she set aside a special time every year to get together and forge new memories.
With John being in the family business, they moved many times. They left Steinbach in 1979 and in 1998 John and Chris returned to Steinbach where she resided until her passing.
Whether in the summer or winter, at the cottage, or at home, Chris loved to gather around the dinner table to prepare new recipes, whether local or around the world, new or handed down.
Chris and John loved to travel extensively, with trips taking them around the world.
The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 am, at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with interment at the Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, ,MB, immediately following the service.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, Diabetes Foundation, or Heart & Stroke Foundation.
