ERMA E. (VAN DE KEERE) LOEPPKY
Mar. 19, 1920-Jan. 8, 2018
Erma passed away peacefully at De Salaberry District Health Centre, St Pierre, MB, at the age of 97. She will be lovingly remembered by her youngest brother Charlie (Elizabeth) of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law Mary Van De Keere of Trail, BC and Helen Van De Keere of Winnipeg. She was a very special aunt and friend to her many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Erma was predeceased by her husband, Peter F. Loeppky; her parents, Petrus and Elisa Van De Keere; brothers, Julien (Mary), Emile, and Arthur; sisters, Elsie (Adolph) Polanski, Irene (Doug) Dunn, and Yvonne; niece, Diane Polanski; nephew, Barry Van De Keere; nephew-in-law, Ken Normand; and special friend, Henry Fehler.
Born in Belgium, Erma immigrated in 1924 to Prairie Grove, MB with her parents and three siblings. Her family later moved to St Anne’s Road in St Vital (now the corner of Bishop Grandin and St Anne’s Road).
At age 17, she went to work for the Tolton Family in Otterburne West until she married Pete on Nov. 8, 1941. They farmed just outside of Niverville for 55 years. After Pete’s passing, she lived in her apartment in Niverville quite happily for over 20 years.
Erma loved the farm life, seeing the crops grow, caring for her animals and especially enjoyed gardening with her brother Charlie. She loved going to auction sales, touring the countryside, and visiting with family and friends. Throughout her life, wherever she went, she made lifelong friends.
A celebration of Erma’s life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Niverville United Church, 55 1st N, Niverville, MB with Rev Nancy Finlayson officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Van De Keere, Michael Van De Keere, George Peters, Tom Rossi, Lavern Vercaigne, David Normand, Mark Loeppky and Paul Loeppky. Interment to follow in the Heritage Cemetery, Niverville, MB.
Special thank you to Dr Mairi Burnett, her caregivers at the hospital, her homecare workers and especially the many visitors who made her days brighter.

Should friends desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Niverville United Church.
