ELSIE YURECHKA
March 21, 1937 - January 1, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Elsie Yurechka on Monday, January 1, 2018 at her home.
Mom was born on March 21, 1937 in Garson, MB and moved Wampum, MB at the age of 16 where she met and married her husband John and lived here the rest of her life. Some of Mom’s best times were spending time with family and her many friends. She had a great love for animals and there was almost always a pet or two in her home.
She is survived by her three daughters: Bonnie Grawberger (Garry), Susan Dokken (Kenneth) and Sandy Yurechka (Darryl McMullan) and her daughter-in-law Shirley; her grandchildren: Jolene Bunn (Gabriel), Barbie Woods (Shawn), Shelley Preteau (Anil Nayer), Kevin Dokken (Carrie) and Candace Smetana (Micheal); and her great grandchildren: Trechelle and Teane Bunn, Brooklyn and Lyla Smetana and Scarlett Dokken. She is also survived by brothers: Conrad Sigurdson (Sarah), George Sigurdson, Bob Sigurdson and Earl Pederson; sisters: Diane Fortin (Robert), & Valdine Sigurdson, and one sister-in-law Millie Sigurdson as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband John, her son James, her grandson Jared and her son-in-law Claude Preteau as well as her sister Ruth Thompson and brothers: Albert, Kenneth, Roy and Fred Sigurdson and Larry Pederson.
As per Mom’s request, she has been cremated and a private family funeral will be held at a later date with interment in the Wampum Cemetery in the spring.
